Free membership of the Digital Champions Network and project support for community-based organisations in County Durham.

How does it work?

Let's Get Digital, Durham is a project to help local people get the digital skills they need for everyday life. These skills are essential for almost everything now, from applying for jobs and benefits to paying for parking. But more than a third of us have "low" or "very low" digital skills and struggle to thrive in a digital-first world.

The most effective and sustainable way to help people get these skills is via organisations they already know and trust. So we're offering training and support for five local organisations for a year, to turn their staff or volunteers into confident skilled Digital Champions who can then help others with digital skills.

This project started in early 2024 and it's a sister project to Let's Get Digital, West Cumbria which is now in it's second year and going great.

Who can apply?

Community organisations and groups in Durham and County Durham. You don't need to be a digitally focused organisation but you do need to want to help people with digital skills. You should not be already connected to our sponsor Capgemini. If you'd like to apply but aren't sure you qualify, just get in touch with Kate.

How will it help you?

Via Let's Get Digital, Durham, you  can create a sustainable, flexible programme that you control; that uses the resources/ people you have already in your organisation and helps the people you want to help - with whatever digital skills they need, whether that's so they can apply for jobs and benefits; manage their health online or find ways to stay touch with friends and family.

And we’ll support you throughout the year, connect you to a group of like-minded people and help you grow a sustainable, flexible network that changes lives!

The Network is really good because I can drop into it at any time and check out problems that may arise, and talk to other DC’s to get advice, also the relevant training courses are really good. And DC meetings we attend also help us keep up to date with the changes that come up a lot of the time.
