Michael's Story: Helping rectify an online banking scam

Michael became interested in helping others develop digital skills whilst being an IT administrator in a Library in his home country.

He was faced with the challenging task of helping elderly people who enrolled in teacher education programmes to become adult teachers. As a consequence of helping these people he wanted to acquire some additional digital skills which he is now using to help people at Rainham Library Havering Council, Essex.

One of the most memorable people he helped was a young Health Worker who was defrauded by an online bank scam involving direct debits.

His task was to show her how she could retrieve the already defrauded money from her account and how to avoid another financial fraud by being aware of suspicious online activity. She was able to recover all of her money.

Now that's definitely a fabulous result!
