A chat room is an online venue or ‘virtual room’ where people with a shared interest can communicate with each other 'interactively' in real time, as opposed to a ‘forum’ where people communicate and carry on discussions more slowly by posting messages. When a registered chat room user types a message into a text box, it will be visible to other users almost immediately.
