Free Inspire training, free membership of the Digital Champions Network, and project support for community organisations in Newcastle.

How does it work?

Let's Get Digital, Newcastle helps local people get the digital skills they need for everyday life. These skills are essential for almost everything, from applying for jobs and benefits to paying for parking. But more than a third of us have "low" or "very low" digital skills and struggle to thrive in a digital-first world.

The most effective and sustainable way to help people get these skills is via organisations they already know and trust. So we offer training and support to local organisations, to turn their staff or volunteers into confident skilled Digital Champions who can then help others with digital skills.

Who can apply?

Community organisations and groups in Newcastle.

You don't need to be a digitally focused organisation but you do need to want to help people with digital skills and we're especially keen to work with organisations supporting older people.

You should not be already connected to our sponsor Capgemini.

How will it help you?

You  can create a sustainable, flexible programme that you control. It uses the resources and people you already have in your organisation and helps the people you want to help with motivation, confidence and whatever digital skills they need - whether that's so they can apply for jobs and benefits; manage their health online or find ways to stay in touch with friends and family.

And we’ll support you throughout the year, connect you to a group of like-minded people and help you grow a sustainable, flexible network that changes lives!

The ripple effect has been huge. We’ve seen increased confidence, independence, and curiosity from people who may have previously felt excluded from the digital world. We’re now making sure digital support is available across all of our services — whether it's one-to-one help, group sessions, or informal peer learning.

Tried and tested

This is our third LGD project - we have others already up and running in West Cumbria and Durham.

Here's a case-study from one charity who got involved last year.

It's free!

We cover all the costs for your organisation to join and use the platform with training for up to 10 Champions per organisation. And we provide extra help and support from a local project lead.

I’m really enjoying my experience as a Digital Champion and finding the resources on the Digital Champions Network incredibly helpful. It’s empowering to learn new skills that I can share with those who may feel less confident in the digital space.
