Spending time in the early stages to make a plan, is time well spent. It doesn't have to be onerous, but it will help your define your vision and keep you on track. On this page we have some resources that you can use to brainstorm your project and then move on to create your plan.

We typically see that a project takes 6 months to get going and 12-18 months to gain momentum. In this video we share some top tips of what you need to consider in your project plan.

Defining the aims of your project

We see the planning for your project as two stages the outline/vision and the more detailed project plan.

In this video Sarah explains the idea of a project vision.

Creating your project vision

A clear project vision will help you explain the value that the project, what it will bring to the organisation or its users, and can be used to gain support and buy-in from stakeholders.

We have created a template that you and your team can use to help you define your project vision

Creating your plan

A project plan sets out the roadmap and timescales for your project, and helps keep you and the project team on track. It might also be required by your senior management team or funders.  With a solid plan in place, progress can be tracked effectively, and adjustments can be made.

We have created a light touch project plan template.

Case studies from other projects
