Are you interested in becoming a Young Digital Champion, or in training a group of Young Digital Champions? Look no further!
Digital Unite has teamed up with the National Citizen Service to create some training packs to give young people (between the ages of 16 and 18) an introduction to becoming Digital Champions; individuals with the confidence and abilities to help others learn how to make the most of digital technology.
Learning outcomes
Through the training packs, aspiring Champions will:-
- Understand the benefits and barriers to getting online.
- Learn how to confidently assist beginners and intermediate digital learners.
- Gain practical skills: Champions will become familiar with typical ‘do’s and don’ts’, and will understand how to plan learning sessions.
- Gain specific people skills: the ability to inspire confidence, how to explain something simply and clearly, and the importance of patience.
- Understand how to keep themselves and their learners safe online.
- Know what to do next: participants will have a clear idea of what to do with these new skills and where to find social action and volunteering opportunities.
- Feel a sense of value and achievement: participants will understand the importance and fun of this work, and its great value.
How the training works
The training can be used in two ways...
1. Become a Young Digital Champion yourself
If you are keen to become a Young Digital Champion yourself, then the 'Young Digital Champion' pack is for you. It's full of all the know-how and resources that you need to get started.
2. Train a group of Young Digital Champions
Perhaps you work for a Housing Association or similar and are interested in training a group of young Digital Champions in a fun and interactive session. If so, you should use our facilitators pack which gives you the structure and all the resources that you will need to do this.
