Carphone Warehouse, Headline Sponsor of Spring Online encouraged employees to host their own Spring Online events in stores across the nation.  Each of the events sought to help older customers get to grips with tablets and smartphones – further conveying Carphone Warehouse’s vision to ‘make people’s lives better through technology.’

Digital Unite received some truly inspirational award entries, but there was one Carphone Warehouse event that stood out from the rest.  Suzzanne Small, Store Manager of Carphone Warehouse Billericay, hosted a Spring Online event on a Sunday, when the store is normally closed.  Suzzanne showed dedication and a true understanding of the values behind the Spring Online campaign, spending extra time with older customers helping them get to grips with technology.

“We helped the over 60s, in the town. There are a lot of them and rather than rush them through the week we held the event for 6 hours and got to spend more time with them, which they loved. The event was a great success, and on the back of that we are now going to open on a certain Sunday of the month (as we are normally closed) to help people with their smartphones/tablets. The people in the town think this is a great idea. Plus customers did buy items, tablets especially, for the Spring Online event.”

Andrew Harrison, CEO of Carphone Warehouse commented: “We’re passionate about technology and take the greatest pleasure helping people to use the latest tablet computers and smartphones. We’ve been delighted to support this important campaign and as well as showing hundreds of older people what technology can do, we’ve learned from them and will be enhancing our service in some stores to accommodate their needs. Carphone Warehouse Billericay is a fantastic example of the commitment from our staff with helping others and the campaign doesn’t end here for us – our fully trained experts will continue to warmly welcome anyone who wants to learn more about technology and the life-changing benefits it can bring, all year round, so more people can keep in touch with friends and family, share experiences and take advantage of all the conveniences of this connected world”.

Emma Solomon OBE, Managing Director of Digital Unite commented: “Many congratulations to Carphone Warehouse Billericay for their award success which was much deserved for the way they took time out from business as usual to effectively meet the needs of local older people. We are extremely proud of Spring Online which, in these digitally demanding times, is still as impactful as ever and we’re prouder still of the people who make it happen.”
