Last month, we ran a focus group to talk to Digital Champions (DCs) about how they use our platform. It's was really interesting for us - as there's always a gap between how you think people use your services and how they actually do. It was really helpful too as it made us think about changes that would improve it now and in the future (see below).
There are no "average Champions"!
A big thank you to the 36 Champions who gave time and thought to our questions. Generally their responses were really positive. Paula, who ran the session, was struck by how engaged they were, but also by how complex even something simple, like how people use the homepage, was.
"This is probably because everyone uses the page in different ways, which highlighted the different types of DCs there are and how they will use it differently at different stages of their journey."
It's tempting to think of an "average" Digital Champion when designing the platform, but it's really clear there's no such thing (just as there's no such thing as an "average learner"). That's more complicated to think about than where buttons should go or how we make the help section more obvious - but just as crucial to bear in mind when we designing and improving the platform.
