Age UKs around the country are taking part in Spring Online from 22 April onwards – opening their doors to encourage older people to get to grips with modern technology.

From one to one computer sessions in the Wirral, drop-in sessions in Cockermouth and advice about shopping online in County Durham to keeping in touch with friends through social media in Barnet, free Spring Online events will show how easy it is to get online.

At Age UK Knaresborough, friendly tutors will help those who want to learn how to use a computer, get online, shop on the internet, send emails, share photos or have questions of their own.

Age UK Boston is hosting a week-long series of taster sessions for people to try out the internet and emailing, especially for those who have no experience of computing, while Age UK Oxfordshire is joining in with Spring Online by offering free drop-in taster sessions for those who are interested in the world of computers and IT. Age UK Bristol in partnership with Western Computers will hold free iPad taster sessions for anyone who owns an iPad or would like to try one for the first time.

The Magic Mouse service at Age UK Gloucestershire along with Adult Education in Gloucestershire is inviting older people to an internet taster event to find out about getting online, staying safe online and making the most of the internet. There will be plenty of opportunity to get hands-on and have a go with an iPad or tablet computer.

Age UK Knowlsey and West Mersey will run classes teaching various computer and internet skills, and Age UK’s very own 2013 joint internet champion Janet Tchamani will be holding a Spring Online session in Kings Heath.

These are just a few of the hundreds of events being held around the country as part of Spring Online, run by Digital Unite in association with Carphone Warehouse. Let us know about yours! You can find your nearest event here.
