How do you get people online? And keep them there? We know you need devices, data and skills but this Get Online Week, we're rooting for one thing we think that's absolutely crucial...

We think it's people.

Obviously, we would say that because we specialise in Digital Champion programmes, and we hear all the time from clients about the impact their projects are having. These might be structured programmes run by Local Authorities, drop-ins by charities or corporate volunteers helping family members finally get to grips with online banking. But the stats back it up too.

  • 74% want face-to-face support

  • 72% like learning from friends & family

  • 74% of workers are willing to learn new skills or re-train in order to remain employable

  • 1 in 4 won’t use their digital skills without continuing support

Online resources are brilliant (we've got loads!). Easy to access, well designed sites and services are great but if you're going to get people online and keep them there, people need ongoing support from people.

They went at the pace I could enjoy. I did not feel under any pressure; I did not feel bombarded with too much stuff. I feel really happy about it because I have the email, and I can browse for anything I need.
