We are proud to be working with Hyde Housing, a partner of our new Digital Champions Network for Housing, who has extended their digital inclusion programme with face-to-face home tuition for residents in central and east Kent.

Two Digital Unite tutors began this work at the end of last year helping learners aged from 18 years right up to 75+ years in regular weekly sessions.  Most of the residents are looking to develop digital skills so they can improve their job prospects or to be able to access online services and save money. One learner runs a small business and wants to be able to produce his own invoices instead of having to rely on others and some have additional accessibility issues including visual impairments.

In addition, from next month a Digital Unite tutor will also be providing basic skills training to support Hyde residents at a local Jobs Club in Surrey.

Tom Gardiner, Regional Manager, Hyde Plus at Hyde Housing said: “At Hyde we’re fully committed to helping our residents to get and stay online. We’re pleased that, in addition to being part of the new Digital Champions Network for Housing, we can also support residents to develop essential computer skills through initiatives such as these.”

Kathy Valdes, Business Development Manager at Digital Unite said: “Face-to-face tuition that is personalised to learners’ individual needs is essential in inspiring and facilitating a lasting use of the internet. We are delighted to be working with Hyde Housing in a number of ways to help more of their residents reap the rewards of being online.”
