Members of Putney Methodist Church are getting together with the London Mosque in Southfields this month to hold a cross-faith Spring Online event, designed to help people irrespective of their social background to get online and make the most of the internet.

The event is the brainchild of David Armstrong, a member of Putney Methodist Church who works as an IT consultant. He says: “This is a great way for both communities to work together to help older people in the area.  We want to show how the internet can transform their daily lives – from shopping online to keeping in touch with family and friends.  And hopefully it will lead to other cross-faith initiatives in future, where we can again come together to address local issues.”

The event won’t just cross faiths – it will also cross generations. Young people from the Church and Mosque will be on hand to help visitors explore the digital world – including David’s 11 year old son, Cameron, who is helping to organise the event and provide his expertise.

The event will take place at Putney Methodist Church in Gwendolen Avenue, on Saturday April 27th. A range of PCs and printers will be available – but anyone who wants to learn more about their own device is welcome to take it along. Visitors can drop in any time from 10.30am to 4pm and lunchtime refreshments will be available at a nominal charge.
